DURHAM, NC, March 3, 2026. Bull City Pepper Co., the Durham-based artisan sauce maker known for its "Peppers-First" philosophy, is celebrating a landmark year of growth and critical acclaim. The company recently surpassed a significant milestone, earning its 10th medal in just three years at the NC Hot Sauce Competition.
This blue-ribbon streak was recently highlighted in a featured interview with Spectrum News, where the founding team shared the story of their obsession with flavor over gimmicks. From their roots in the Triangle to the 40 iterations required to perfect their flagship Rambunctious Red, the segment captured the craft-focused spirit that has made Bull City a hometown favorite.
A Revolution in Heat: The Fatal Death Pepper
Central to the company's recent success is the Fatal Death Pepper, a proprietary cross between the Yellow Fatalii and the Carolina Reaper. This unique entity powers our most intense offerings, including the award-winning Death Rides a Bull and the limited-release Turbo the Bull, built on those signature peppers as the first ingredient.
"We didn't set out to make a science experiment," said the founding team. "We wanted to make the most delicious and versatile hot pepper sauces around. Winning ten medals proves that when you put the pepper first, the flavor speaks for itself."
